The Program
The Yoga for the Mind™ system of yoga was developed for all levels of practitioner. Each class is about an hour long which makes them ideal for use at a gym with a qualified instructor, or at home. The classes were organized in a way to make the maximum use of time. They are for the average person.
The Gentle Yoga class is for people who find it hard to get up from the floor. Most people can get down to the floor; getting up is the hard part! Starting with breathing exercises (pranayama), the class moves on to eye exercises. Using the chair we work on strength, balance and flexibility. Special emphasis is placed on strengthening the feet, calves and muscles associated with walking. We finish with a 5 minute meditation for your mind.
Hatha Yoga starts with breath work. Eye exercises, and exercises to release stress from the head and neck follow. Balancing, standing poses and strength poses are next. We finish with a 5 minute meditation for your mind. Hatha Yoga has exercises for the mouth, tongue, shoulders and hips.
The Power Yoga class uses Ujiayi breathing. It is a one hour modified version of Ashtanga Yoga, primary series. Power Yoga burns calories as you lift your own weight. Your body makes equal gains in strength and flexibility.
